We are excited to invite you to share your 

BGU International is hosting a short video contest open to all Fall 2018, BGU International students. The video should be up to 3 minutes long and show us Why you love BGU!

Who, When & How

The top five videos will be screened at a BGU International event and the top three best videos will win great prizes. 

When & Who: Students may work in teams or as individuals and the videos must be submitted before 23:59 (Israel time) on Thursday, December 23, 2018.

Please read and carefully consider the following details and guidelines for the BGU International Short Film Competition before submitting your short film.

  1. The competition is open only to BGU's International students that are active students during the Fall semester 2018.
  2. The underlying topic of the film has to be the amazing experience of an International student at BGU.
  3. The top five films will be screened at a BGU International event.  
  4. All entries must be an original digital video.
  5. Students may work together in groups or submit entries as individuals.
  1. The length of the video should not exceed 180 seconds (three minutes), not including the 10-second title screen (see #7). The minimum is 60 seconds (one minute).
  2. All entries should begin with a 10-second full-screen “title screen” that includes the following information:
    • Student's name
    • Home University name
    • State\Country
    • BGU International Slogan- Be different. Be you. BGU
  3. There is no entry fee.
  4. Entries may be submitted through the email address: bgushortvideo2018@gmail.com starting on December 6, 2018. The deadline for submissions is 23:59 (Israel time) on Thursday, December 23, 2018. Winners will be announced no later than January 1, 2019.
  5. Films once entered cannot be withdrawn. Each film may only be submitted once.
  6. The short film must be original and no watermark of any kind should be on the film.
  7. No copyrighted materials (music, images, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all copyrighted materials.
  8. No professional assistance is allowed.
  9. Due credits must be given to the cast and the crew in the film.
  1. Content must comply with all local and national laws of Israel. Content must not 1) promote illegal behavior; 2) support racial, religious, sexual or other invidious prejudice; 3) advocate sexual or violent exploitation; 4) violate rights established by law or agreement; 5) invade the privacy of any person; or 6) be otherwise inappropriate as determined by Population Connection in its sole and conclusive determination.
  2. The judges’ decision is final. Entries will be judged by the staff of the Office of International Academic affairs and representatives of the student union at BGU.
  3. The only reward for submitting a video is the opportunity to be awarded a prize if the entry wins. Filmmakers will not be paid any additional reward nor be liable to the filmmaker under any circumstances.
  4. All entries must be submitted in English.
  5. Awards will be presented as follows:
    • One (1) First Place: Beats Wireless Bluetooth headphones (or equivalent)
    • One (1) Second Place: Dinner for 2 in a fancy restaurant (or equivalent)
    • Three (3) Honorable Mentions: 2 VIP tickets to the Yes Planet cinema (or equivalent)
  6. Students should keep at least one copy of their video. BGU is not responsible for any films that are lost, damaged, or that do not upload properly.
  7. Ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the project remains with the entrant, with the following exceptions.
  8. Entrants grant BGU the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.
  9. Entrants also grant BGU the right to use, reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, and/or display the entrant’s project video without further compensation or notification to the entrant.
  10. BGU maintains the right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, or exhibit the project for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes on their website, at conferences, or at any other venues.
  11. By accepting the prizes, winners agree to hold BGU and all BGU employees harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of such prizes. Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused by participation in the contest or use/redemption of any prize.
  12. Entrants agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions of the judges.
  13. In case of any controversy on a matter not mentioned in the above regulations, the Organizers will decide on appropriate action. The Organizers' word shall be final and binding.
  14. The judges may disqualify a film if they have reason to believe that it does not comply with the entry Terms and Conditions, so make sure you have read them thoroughly!
  15. Entering a film into the Competition implies the acceptance of its regulations; all submissions to the Festival translate full acceptance and no reservations in terms of regulation.
